The Concentration Board Game
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy thinking deep thoughts...
The Concentration Board Game
Back in the early days of game shows, there were tons of strange ideas about what kind of games people would want to play. Any sort of game that gave the audience the possibility of walking away with some interesting prizes and money, meant that people would flock to it. One of those games was Concentration, and it has stuck around in various incarnations since 1958.

4 Careers in High Demand
I've been on a job hunt for about a year now, working here and there at part-time gigs or to help friends out with projects for a little spending cash. I've noticed that some careers are in higher demand than others. I wish I knew this kind of information when I was back in high school and college; I would have chosen to study one of these high demand careers to make sure I would have employment for years to come.
Here are four careers that are not only in high demand now, but stand to be Read more [...]
Aspirin Is a Wonder Drug
No drug is more taken for granted than plain old aspirin. Not only does it cure headaches, but it can help make your heart healthier. And its side effects are minimal, to say the least. Aspirin is a wonder drug.
Besides being used to alleviate headaches, aspirin is also often used to reduce fever. Personally, nothing works better for a fever OR a headache than plain old aspirin. And I've tried everything--Aleve, Ibuprofen, Tylenol, even Hydrocodone.
If my back hurts, sure, I'd rather have Read more [...]

Lightning Can Be Hard on Cordless Phones, Too
Not too long ago, we had a thunderstorm. Lightning struck, and the power surged, went off, and came back on pretty quickly. I'm one of those people who insists on keeping his land line when it comes to the telephone. In fact, I don't even have a cell phone, and when you cell phone users are all walking around with brain cancer, I'll have the last laugh, because I'll be the only healthy man on earth. Anyway, I digress. I have two cordless phones from GE, and they both plug into their respective Read more [...]

Darius Rucker Sings Pretty, Methinks
I've now listened to the Darius Rucker album, Charleston, SC 1966 at least 20 times, according to iTunes. Most people know Darius Rucker as "Hootie" from Hootie and the Blowfish, who's been accused of singing like a white man. Maybe he does sing like a white man, and maybe he doesn't, but I sure enjoy his country music, especially this particular album. (And you can probably guess something about my age from my use of the phrase "album," but hell, what else are you going to call it?)

What Is a Hatter Anyway? And Why Are Hatters Always Mad?
I saw the following conversation on Twitter today.
"We're all mad as hatters here."
"What even is a hatter, anyway? And what are they always mad about?"
"A hatter is someone who sells and makes hats for a living."
"Hatters aren't angry; they're insane. Felt (used in hats) in the 18th and 19th centuries contained mercury."
"Mercury poisoning in the blood would often drive hatters literally insane, hence the phrase 'mad as a hatter.'"
"And now you know the rest of the story."
